January 15, 2009Reunited Atlanta-based thrashers HALLOWS EVE have cancelled their appearance at the Metal Merchants Festival, set to take place January 30-31, 2009 at Kanonhallen in Oslo, Norway. The band explains in a statement, "The bottom line is our vocalist, Stacy Andersen, has a bleeding ulcer in his upper respiratory system that is bleeding into his stomach. Surgery will more than likely occur before the festival. Recovery time will be 2-3 months.
"We sincerely apologize to the promoters of the festival and all our fans, as we have been looking forward to this opportunity for over a year. Look for a new album later this year and thank you all for your understanding and continued support."
HALLOWS EVE's new album, "The Neverending Sleep" — which features original HALLOWS EVE members Stacy Andersen (vocals) and Tommy Stewart (bass) alongside Doyle Bright (guitar),Jim Gorman (drums) and Chris Abbamonte (guitar) — was produced by Doyle Bright of RIGOR MORTIS and is said to be "a conscious effort to achieve the feel and sound of 'Tales of Terror' (1985) and 'Death and Insanity' (1986)," according to bassist Tommy Stewart.
